Grading students' productive skills namely writing and speaking is a very subjective and open-ended process. In this session we delve deep into each one of the grading criteria for presentational writing along with real-life samples produced by Tamil language learners. In addition to understanding the gradation in students' writing, we will discuss how the rubric descriptors relate to the Tamil language.

Assessing students’ performance is a subjective process, with a focus on understanding what students can do and on identifying the areas where they need further help. This workshop series explores performance-based assessments for every mode of communication. Teachers will gain hands-on experience in assessing actual student samples in Tamil across different proficiency levels using model rubrics and scoring guides. We will discuss how teachers can adopt evidence-based assessment approaches while also incorporating modifications required for teaching the Tamil language.
